PureFibre is Telus's fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in BC and Alberta. Unlike cable internet, the fibre cable runs directly to your home — not to a neighbourhood node. This delivers symmetrical upload and download speeds (e.g., 500 Mbps both ways on PureFibre 500). All Telus internet plans include a 5-year price lock after the initial 2-year term.

Telus PureFibre consistently outperforms Rogers (formerly Shaw) on upload speeds — often by a factor of 10 or more. For households that upload video, use video calls, or work from home, Telus wins clearly. Rogers cable may be cheaper on entry-level plans and has broader rural coverage. Both are widely available across BC and AB metro areas.

After signing a 2-year term, Telus guarantees your rate won't increase for an additional 3 years — 5 years total from sign-up. This is one of the strongest price stability commitments from a major Canadian ISP. The price lock does not apply to month-to-month customers, who pay a higher rate with no term commitment.

In BC and AB, Telus PureFibre is typically faster on upload than Bell — particularly on symmetric plans like PureFibre 3 Gig (3 Gbps both ways). Bell's fibre footprint is stronger in Ontario and Quebec, where Telus does not offer internet service. Neither is universally faster — technology and available plans vary by address.
