Our Mission
Canadians consistently pay some of the highest internet prices in the developed world. We believe that with the right information, most Canadian households could save $20–60 per month without sacrificing speed or reliability.
ShopLikeSam.ca is the Canadian sister site of ShopLikeSam.com, built specifically for the Canadian market — covering all 13 provinces and territories, with data on every major ISP from Bell and Rogers to TekSavvy and Starlink.
How We Work
We research, you decide. We gather pricing, plan details, contract terms, and performance data directly from provider websites and public sources. We don't just repost marketing copy — we include the downsides too.
Affiliate transparency. ShopLikeSam.ca may receive a commission when you click through to a provider and sign up. This never influences our ratings or what we write — we cover all 18 providers equally, including ones we don't have affiliate relationships with. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Pricing accuracy. Internet plan pricing changes frequently. We update our data regularly but always recommend verifying the current price directly with the provider before committing.
Our Data Source: CRTC National Broadband Data
Canadian internet service providers are legally required to submit annual broadband coverage data to the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission). This data — filed by ISPs under regulatory obligation, not voluntarily — shows exactly which technologies and providers serve each geographic hex cell across Canada.
ShopLikeSam.ca derived FSA-level coverage from the CRTC's National Broadband Data shapefile (78MB, covering ~1,643 active Canadian FSA codes) using R spatial analysis and Statistics Canada boundary files. Each active Canadian postal forward sortation area was matched to its confirmed ISP filings.
What this means for you:When our postal code tool shows Bell, Rogers, or Telus at your address, that's based on what those ISPs filed with the federal regulator — not what they put on their marketing page. This distinction matters: ISPs sometimes claim coverage for areas where their infrastructure hasn't fully arrived.
CRTC data is updated annually via the National Broadband Data collection. Our database reflects the most recently processed regulatory filing period.
